thank you so much!

well - i was torn between two icons, so i chose a compromise instead - my "Wuthering Oscar" icon

i believe the two other choices were: the one you see here

and this one: http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/107721798/3142231

was there an Occupy demonstration in your community today? Did you go?

(I missed the one here but I saw that people are settled in front of the art gallery.)

i've had an absolutely crushing headache all day - i couldn't do anything

if i were able, i'd love to march, but nothing is on in this town - it's always behind the curve - i do know some of the folks who would organise one though

i was at some large family festivities this weekend and i was the only one bringing up the marches, politics, etc., and i think i made some progress - but it was an ordeal because of my cfs

i had a link for occupy canada in my earlier post - i haven't heard anything about vancouver, but possibly the worst shit is coming down on the seattle protests, confirming my belief that washington is ultimately a police state - and i think maybe the local psychology might have something to do with it

note: i heard some huy praising manitoba for it's "socialist" type policies/programmes - and so winnipeg has been interesting me. i also like how it's close to ND and MN - sometimes progressive states - and i've heard an AM station from there - so i'm thinking the people around there might be nice/decent - it's just so cold and on a precarious red river flood plain

it would be nice if you could protest. it's great to see my LJ friends protesting - makes me feel my jnl isn't such a waste, (possibly). also, i liked your logical thinking re: Umbitch (possibly leaving) in a recent post

Occupy Vancouver website:

http://occupyvancouver.com/

Things went quite peacefully. I'm worried that the Black Bloc will drop by (they're poseur anarchists - they don't really care about the causes they claim to embrace; they just like to destroy shit, bully ordinary people, and generally cause trouble).

Black Box sound like the same old same old since prehistory - you know, like punks, brownshirts, teabaggers... they are the worst crap - the cream of the thuggery crop during times of NAZIfication - i despise them. little boys with no big picture just wanting to scare and hurt people to prove the are big, and "real" - in fan of very easy entropy - it is an insult they call themselves anarchists - but - the "anarchist" groups alwas come out in times like these

i once tried to decide if i am an anarchist. i decided that if i am an anarchist, i am a TRANS-anarchist - meaning existing as a transition to a new/better system

anyway - it's good it was fairly peaceful there (for now((?)))... here's what another of my LJ friends reported from Denver last night:

"The capitol is 10 blocks from my house. These protests are literally on my front door step.
Pretty intense, and don't let the news fool you, the police did use pepper spray against a peaceful assembly. The crowds were even screaming "peaceful" when being pushed off of public property. The area is swarming with police keeping the public off the capital and off the park grounds. Hickenlooper even signed a proclamation saying the public property is currently closed to the public."

I stopped by the Occupy site today. Some tents, a guy making speeches, and a couple of dogs. (If people here can't bring their dogs, they won't join the revolution - apologies to Emma Goldman.) And a few cops on bikes watching but mostly talking to each other. Oh, and the hot dog vendor there seems to be doing pretty good business.

Downtown Van Business Ass'n blamed Occupy VCR for lower shopping traffic downtown on Saturday. Of course, since the MSM here was speculating out loud that the protest MIGHT be comparable to the post-Stanley Cup riots, or Day 1 of the Olympics (where the Black Bloc vandalized downtown), I am not surprised. I had to pass through downtown Saturday evening to get home after my cousin's daughter's baby shower, and it looked pretty crowded to me; the crowds were too busy paying attention to some buskers.

(note: power blackout in seattle... www.seattle.gov/light/sysstat/ ...

"It was 900+ sans power at first, now down to 449. But while the initial estimated time of full restoration was 4:01 AM, it's now been pushed back to 6:46 AM. There were apparently 3 booms, which presumably means 3 transformers, which presumably means 3 waves of restoration. But IANAL (I am not a lineman), so I'm pretty much just talking out of my ass."
