Scratch and sniff - part 2

Posted on 2010.12.21 at 19:29
The DREAM ACT was defeated in the Senate recently.  This bill would have allowed innocent children of illegal immigrants the right to obtain their citizenship after years of education, decent citizenry in the community, and so forth.  Instead, these children have been blamed for the crimes of their own parents.  That's a horrific flouting of the values of this country, going back to the Founding Fathers.  Senators have actually come out and blamed these infants and toddlers of criminality approaching TERRORISM - in the same facile manner by which Assange, an AUSTRALIAN, has been accused of TREASON.  (I wish I had a link, but forgot the incident due to CFS).  That's IN  ADDITION to trying to take away economically-productive UNEMPLOYMENT  COMP. EXTENSION, while increasing the DEFICIT with tax breaks for the rich - resulting in a bill which takes money from "independent" SOCIAL SECURITY - OUR MONEY!  That's IN  ADDITION to fighting against Single Payer, Public Option, and virtually every clause in the recent health care reform bill - a bill they declared THEY ARE DETERMINED TO DISMANTLE.  And now, speaking of the bill to assist suffering 9/11First Responders, Norman Goldman says, "Jesus would be so very proud that you rushed to deny HEALTH CARE to Americans in need!" - after all of their Red-White-and-Blue support of George Bush's warriors, the 9/11 firemen, etc.  These people claim to speak for Jesus, yet they pay themselves via the international MONEY CHANGERS in the Temple.

And they're acting like what? Babies. They're Lording themselves over us, AND ACTING LIKE FRICKIN BABIES!

Senator: Voting on urgent legislation is 'disrespectful', 'War on Christmas'

And the hope of a safer planet - THE START TREATY - is sought to be taken, like candy, from the mouths of babes.  On today's vote, several GOP Senators are conspicuously absent.  Why?  Because, even though they would be ratifying a VERY PATRIOTIC, supra-partisan, REAGAN treaty, they are still intent on not providing President Obama any kind of political victory.  But Senator John Kerry stood up and handed it back to them.  Even though, you'd never comprehend this by watching Fox "News", (see also www.alternet.org).

JOHN KERRY: Mr. President, I am delighted to be able to say a few words in response to the minority leader. I have great respect for the minority leader. He and I came to the Senate together in the same class, and I appreciate the difficulties of his job and certainly the difficulties of corralling any number of the different personalities. The same is true for the majority leader. These are tough jobs.

But I say to my friend from Kentucky that just because you say something doesn't make it true. Our friends on the other side of the aisle seem to have a habit of repeating things that have been completely refuted by every fact there is. Our old friend Patrick Moynihan used to remind all of us in the Senate and in the country that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but they are not entitled to their own facts. John Adams made that famous statement that facts are stubborn things. Mr. President, facts are stubborn things.

The facts are that this treaty is not being rushed. This treaty was delayed at the request of Republicans. This treaty was delayed 13 times separately by Senator Lugar to respect their desire to have more time to deal with the modernization issue, which the administration has completely, totally, thoroughly dealt with in good faith. I would like to know where the good faith comes from on the other side occasionally. They put extra money in. They sat and negotiated. They sent people to Arizona to brief Senator Kyl personally. For weeks, we delayed the procession of moving forward on this treaty in order to accommodate our friends on the other side of the aisle. And now, fully accommodated, with their requests entirely met, they come back and say, oh, it is being rushed

Well, today marks our sixth day of debate on the New START treaty. That is a fact--6 days of debate on the New START treaty. Now they will come to the floor and say that we had an intervening vote here or there. Sure. That is the way the Senate works. That is the way it worked when they passed the first START treaty in 5 days. We are now spending more time on this treaty than we did on a far more complicated treaty, at a far more complicated time. The fact is that if we go through today, which we will, on this treaty, and depending what happens with cloture and when the other side decides they want to vote, we can be here for 9 days on this treaty, which is more time than we would have spent on the START treaty, START II treaty, and the Moscow Treaty. With the time it took other Senates to deal with three treaties, these folks are complaining about the time to take one treaty, and it will be more time. It is astounding to me. See how Fox "News" handled this story: http://www.mediamatters.org/blog/201012210009 - A very important website.

Well here's the contradiction for ya... Christianity stepped up and offered the following complete repudiation of this very BULLSHIT, now displayed by the Republicans: The idea of a BABY who has more authority than any of these criminal lords! The idea that the spirit of NATURE and INNOCENCE within us far outweighs the legal or economic or "moral" legitimacy of these Herod-wanna-be's!

What would Baby Jesus do?!?!...

Jesus paid special attention to the poor

Once again, "Why?", I ask...

I really can't comprehend the Tea Party. They're collectively a bunch of whiny crybabies and phony Christians, just like their hero Glenn Blecch.

i agree - and they are confusing - moreso to foreigners

i've been trying very hard to understand all this. i studied the rise of Hitler's fascism while i was in college - plus i am extremely interested in psychology

i could give you a few views on them - but i might just have to wait for a full post on them - but, for one thing, they have 3 elements

1 - original teabaggers: ron paul, anti-fed, anti-banksters, anti-Bush
2 - right-wing-funders: corporations and libertarian think tanks, sponsoring old people scared about change, losing their moneys, immigrants
3 - traditional far right: christian fundamentalists, pro-gun, racists

their mantra is to REDUCE THE DEFICIT which they use to rationalise all opposition to (black) Obama, although they DO want to increase the deficit w/ tax cuts for the top 2% (#2). This aims to cripple and shrink - destroy - the government, (except for the military-industrial establishment), which is the one uniting goal of all 3 groups
