This Tuesday, there will be a medical marijuana hearing at the State Capitol, with
details in the other email. You can register your support for the bill

Medical Marijuana Hearing In Wisconsin
Take Action Now!
Tuesday, November 22, 2005 will be a historic day for Wisconsin medical
marijuana patients as Rep. Gregg Underheim (R-Oshkosh) holds the first
public hearing on medical marijuana in Wisconsin in nearly 25 years.
Underheim, chair of the Health Committee, is the sponsor of Assembly
Bill 740, a bipartisan bill to approve the physician authorized use of
The committee will be hearing testimony from state medical cannabis
advocates Gary Storck and Jacki Rickert of Is My Medicine Legal YET?
and WI NORML, along with other patients, advocates and health care
professionals, including federal medical marijuana patient Irvin
Rosenfeld from Florida and former Maryland legislator Don Murphy. While
their testimony is critical, so is the support of the citizens of
AB 740 needs to voted out of the Health Committee to reach the Assembly
floor for a vote. While polling has found that upwards of 80% of
Wisconsinites support legal access to medical marijuana for patients
who can benefit, approval of AB 740 by the committee is not a given.
Wisconsin medical marijuana supporters who cannot make it to the
Capitol on Tuesday to register or speak in support of this bill need to contact
committee members and ask for their support. Contacting committee
members is particularly important for those whose Assembly
representative sits on the committee.
If you have not done so already, please take two minutes to send a
pre-written letter to your Representative in support of AB 740 by

From Progressive Patroits:
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to let you know about some of the recent developments during the past week with Senator Feingold's fight to fix the flawed provisions of the PATRIOT Act. While we won a small victory last Friday, the fight isn't over. We need you to keep the pressure on by signing this petition and telling Congress to follow Russ's lead and fix the PATRIOT Act.
Last week, the PATRIOT Act conference committee was prepared to reject the sensible changes that Senator Feingold and a bipartisan group of other Senators added to the act. Senator Feingold made it clear that if the common sense changes that he and others proposed were not contained in the final version, he and his colleagues would do everything in their power to stop it. Russ even said that he was prepared, if necessary, to filibuster the PATRIOT Act by reading the Bill of Rights and many other relevant documents on the floor of the Senate. The good news is that the Senate leadership recognized the strength of Senator Feingold's conviction on this issue and they ultimately backed down from even moving forward with it for now.
But our work isn't done yet. We need to keep the pressure on and let Congress know that we won't give the government a blank check to infringe upon our rights and freedoms. We need you to sign Russ's petition, urging Congress to stand up for us, and follow Feingold's lead in fixing the PATRIOT Act.
Four years ago, Senator Feingold had the courage to be the only Senator to vote against the PATRIOT Act. Now he's joined by members of both parties who recognize that he was right then, and that he's right now. When he was reelected to the Senate just over a year ago, he promised to stand up for us. Now it's time for us to stand by him.
I also wanted to let you know that Senator Feingold will be on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" on Sunday morning. He'll be discussing his work on the PATRIOT Act, the war in Iraq, and more. There have also been a series of articles about Feingold in the news lately; to find the latest, you can visit the Progressive Patriots Fund website at http://www.progressivepatriotsfund.com.
Lastly, I want to urge you to tell your friends about our work, and to ask them to sign the petition as well. With your help, we can keep the pressure on and fix the flawed provisions of the PATRIOT Act.
Progressive Patriots Fund
P.S. As you spend time with friends and family this Thanksgiving holiday, please urge them to sign the petition so we can keep the pressure on and fix the PATRIOT Act.
