barney bananabread

Posted on 2005.09.21 at 15:24
Any cooks out there? As you may know, bananas have been acting very weird this past month or so. Spoiling early, mainly. So I ended up with a bunch of spoilt bananas in my fridge, which I figured I'd turn into bananabread. But they've been there for over a week, and they're completely black. Is is too late to use them for bananabread?!

I'm allergic to bananas. I say, put some gloves on, throw them out, close up the trash bag, put it outside, then lysol down anything the bananas touched.

I eat bananae all the time. But THEY LOOK SO DISGUSTING NOW. I think people once believed you could get STDs from them - or else that was just to scare girls away from thinking of them as dildo's.

From My Co-worker, Jenny Says.....

Yes as long as they dont smell bad. I usually put them in the freezer when they turn brown/black. Then pull them out when I'm ready to make the bread. But they should be fine. I like to add chocolate chips to mine. :)

Wow! Truly perfect! Thanks! Now I have another reason to leave this godforsaken house - chocolate chips!

Since I am lazy, though, perhaps I can send them to you and you can make the bread, since you like doing that stuff, ok Jenny?

Only if they're moldy..which being all black...it's probably too late.

Don't store them in the fridge, it makes them ripen quicker.

I myself prefer my banana's to be still yellow with a ton of brown spots, I guess you'd say in the 'going bad' stage. They are way sweeter then. But yeah, use them bad boys! Those are the ones we make pudding with..

i've never made banana bread myself, but my mum makes it occasionally. if i remember correctly, it's actually better to use old, black, mushy bananas in it. =) happy baking!
