haiku

Humeur actuelle: lost
Musique actuelle: the crying game
Deep pink morning sky
Shying into azure blue
There's a reason for everything

thanx - my poetry only turns out good when it comes from the heart

i think that's the only time it's ever good with anyone, else it seems really pretentious.

pottery

It's actually kid of odd - the only way you learn it is by working on it heartlessly - on just the words - and it does end up sounding clunky and pretentious. But eventually, it just will flow from the heart at the right time - and all the rules you learned - you don't even notice they're there - I mean they work for you, but effortlessly. Do you do the poetry thing?

haiku

Hey - nice to hear you write! Of course - you must have it in you if you have Irish in you.

I gradully learned to love haiku. But it never really was something I felt like writing. (Although I wrote a lot of tiny funny four-line poems some time back). I tend to love the freedom to play with LOTS of words and rhymes. The direction I went in was what I call "half-rhyme" or "chaotic ryhme" with variation in meter - ALMOST freestyle - something like Dylan Thomas or Yeats. Then I began to appreciate brevity more - and simplicity. Now I feel I can do haiku. The poem above isn't really CLASSIC haiku, it's just my little unrhyming 3-line poem.

I actually adore people who focus on haiku - because it really is an art to master. Hats off to you! You are welcome to include any of your poetry or criticisms here.

FYI - You can see some of my poems in my user page...
