Note that aggregate or cumulative stresses are usually involved in the rise of fungal diseases, such as climate change, pollution, various radiation, pesticides - all compounded multifactorally - leading to a failure of immune systems. In this way, epidemics across species will be a greater consequence from climate change, et al, than we currently imagine.
